Teaching Jolly Phonics is not just a profession; it is an experience that is at once challenging, absorbing, and deeply invigorating. It is a journey that brings educators face-to-face with the fascinating process of how young minds begin to decode the written word. As children look at what initially appear to be meaningless squiggles on a page, they slowly start making sense of them—connecting sounds to symbols, blending letters into words, and eventually unlocking the joy of reading. Being part of this transformation is both a privilege and a responsibility, and it is this very passion that defines Hema’s work as an educator. Hema, a qualified MBA and a deeply committed teacher, has devoted over two decades of her life to teaching Jolly Phonics to elementary school children. Her journey began with a simple yet powerful belief—that every child deserves the opportunity to become a confident and fluent reader. Over the years, she has worked tirelessly to turn this belief into reality, helping hundreds of children build strong literacy foundations through engaging and interactive phonics instruction. Based in Ghatkopar, Mumbai, Hema founded and now directs the Word Masti Phonics & Grammar Institute, a center that reflects her vision and dedication to quality education.
