Background & Expertise

Rachel is a compassionate teacher trainer, dedicated to continuous professional development, collaborating with and supporting teachers, and ensuring student success and engagement. She has worked in education for three decades; as a teacher of all grades from Pre K to 11th, as a teacher trainer, as a presenter at national conferences and most recently leading a team of instructional coaches. Rachel moved to the USA in 2017 after working in state and international schools in England and France, which is where she discovered Jolly Learning She has worked as an literacy expert for The Reading League, Magnolia Consulting Group, and LETRS in the US.

Rachel has experience of both the UK and US version of Jolly Phonics and Jolly Literacy, and enjoyed working with the team that revised the new additions, especially the Reading Comprehension and Writing Skills Books. She loves that Jolly Learning embraced the Science of Reading before it became a buzzword, with a strong systematic, synthetic instruction program, grounded in explicit instruction, which still maintained the joy of reading with its character, songs, and stories. Rachel specialises in Pre K - 6th grade reading, writing and spelling, and is available for in-person and online training across the USA and beyond.
