I am a qualified teacher from the UK with over 10 years of classroom experience, where I used Jolly Phonics extensively in British schools. I then moved into international education, leading operations for Beyond Ourselves Zambia, an education NGO focused on improving the quality of education in community and government schools.
During my time in Zambia, I trained teachers in Jolly Phonics, supported large-scale literacy programmes, and worked closely with schools and the Ministry of Education. I also led the contextualisation of Jolly Phonics materials for the Zambian context and developed the Jolly Phonics Teacher’s Guide for Zambia. This guide has since been used as a model for delivering contextualised Jolly Phonics programmes in other developing nations.
In 2023, I moved to Canada, where I continue to work for Beyond Ourselves by support literacy projects around the world and so I have experience of using Jolly Phonics in a wide range of contexts.
I am passionate about helping teachers deliver high-quality phonics teaching that leads to stronger reading and writing outcomes for children. I am available for both in-person and online training and am open to working in a variety of locations and settings.
